Westside Circus is a vibrant and growing community arts organisation creating circus, performance, physical theatre, music and leadership opportunities for young people.

Our core aim is to make a difference for young people between the ages of 3 and 25 from diverse social, and cultural backgrounds to access exciting and challenging programs which build confidence, promote personal wellbeing and create positive relationships both with peers and the community.

The Westside Circus has been in operation since 1995, when the artistic director, Debby Maziarz, began running circus workshops with young women from the juvenile justice system. Since then, the circus has grown each year, working with young people to create community and major performances showcased at festivals such as Melbourne Fringe, Next Wave and Moomba.

The scope of Westside Circus, however, reaches beyond our core youth programs into the broader Victorian community, creating workshops and performances for all ages.

In 2007, the Westside Circus is targeting refugee young people from the outer Western and South Eastern regions of metropolitan Melbourne through the Jumpjet Circus project. We are also working with the City of Brimbank and the City of Yarra to deliver Special Projects, focusing on a range of issues including early literacy through to healthy eating.

Visit our Ongoing Training page to access circus classes from kindergarten age, through to adults.

Find out about our Outreach Program which offers exciting opportunities to school and community groups for focused workshops to enhance your performing arts curriculum, or social development program.

We invite you to come and experience one of our next upcoming, dynamic shows performed here in Westside Circus's Fitzroy home and out in locations around Victoria.
